Son of Hollywood Exec Appears Shirtless in Court for Murder Charges
The son of a powerful Hollywood executive, Samuel Haskell IV, made his first public appearance in court since his arrest for the brutal killings of his wife and her parents. The 35-year-old appeared shirtless in court, wearing an anti-suicide smock around his waist. His arraignment was postponed to January 12, 2024.

Haskell IV, who had been represented by Beverly Hills defense attorney Bob Schwartz, recently made a last-minute switch to his defense team. His new attorney, Joseph Weimoritz, did not enter a plea on his behalf and requested a continuance of the hearing.
The accused murderer’s Velcro straps came undone before his court appearance, exposing his tattooed upper body. It remains unclear why Haskell IV made the change in his defense team.
Haskell IV allegedly hired four-day laborers to remove several heavy black plastic trash bags from his home, which were speculated to contain body parts. He told the workers the bags contained rocks, but they discovered otherwise when they stopped their truck a block away from his home. The day laborers returned the bags and money, with Haskell IV allegedly claiming they were Halloween props.
Police visited Haskell IV’s home after the day laborers reported the suspicious bags, but they found no evidence at the scene. However, a dismembered torso believed to be his wife’s turned up in a dumpster miles away from their home. Haskell IV was caught on video allegedly dumping the body in the dumpster.

When police searched his home a second time, they found evidence of a crime, including blood evidence. Haskell IV was arrested and charged with his wife’s and in-laws’ murders. The remains of his wife’s parents have not been found.
Samuel Haskell IV is the son of former William Morris Agency executive vice president Samuel Haskell III, who represented a list of stars including George Clooney and Dolly Parton. If convicted on all three counts of murder, Haskell IV faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.
