According to the Red Bluff Police Department (RBPD), the suspect, identified as Thomas Portfield, 59, threw away his gun and surrendered when officers arrived at the scene.

The victim was discovered in a nearby residence with an upper body gunshot wound. Both the suspect and the victim were transported to the hospital, and the victim’s condition is currently unknown, according to RBPD.
