Kenosha Man Sentenced to Five Years in Prison for Hit-and-Run Crash in Racine County
Mount Pleasant, Wis. – A man from Kenosha has received a five-year prison sentence for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash in Racine County in 2022.

Christopher Castillo Moreno, 25, pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run in June. As part of a plea deal, a second-degree reckless injury charge was dismissed. In addition to his prison sentence, Moreno was also sentenced to five years of extended supervision.
According to a criminal complaint, the crash, which occurred on April 9, 2022, near Newman and Spring in Mount Pleasant, involved street racing. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim bleeding with an apparent broken leg. The victim was then airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
Witnesses provided valuable information to the police. One witness stated that he saw a vehicle hit the victim and drive away, while another witness reported seeing two vehicles racing. A third witness claimed that two vehicles were “drag racing” and heard “a loud exhaust” before one of the vehicles struck the victim.
Eventually, a passenger in the striking vehicle contacted the police. He informed them that he saw two people in the road and warned the driver to be careful. The passenger stated that he heard a loud crash and observed the driver panicking. After the incident, the driver, later identified as Castillo Moreno, got out of the vehicle to assess the damage and clean away the blood.

The police obtained doorbell camera footage from a location approximately a mile away from the crash scene. The video showed two individuals inspecting the front bumper of a car and attempting to clean it. Officers searched the area and discovered a plastic lens and a piece of bloody jean fabric.
Castillo Moreno turned himself in and informed the police about the whereabouts of his car. Upon inspection, officers noticed extensive front-end damage and the absence of a sideview mirror. They also found what appeared to be a blood stain.
This case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of hit-and-run incidents and the dangers associated with street racing. The conviction and sentencing of Christopher Castillo Moreno will hopefully bring some closure to the victim and their family.
