Area man, 20, sentenced to 40 years for fatal shooting

A 20-year-old man from Orange has been given a 40-year prison sentence for a fatal shooting that took place in April. Jaden Williams was sentenced on Thursday by Judge Steve Parkhurst in the 260th District Court.

Williams had previously pleaded guilty to killing Isaac Adams, 23, in Orange. The sentence was part of an open plea agreement, with a maximum cap of 45 years.

The incident occurred on April 28, when deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 5600 block of Broussard Circle. They found Adams lying near the roadside with a gunshot wound to his head. Williams, who was present at the scene, was taken into custody.

According to authorities, the shooting was the result of a dispute between the two men. Williams was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was taken to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

Adams was rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for emergency medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Following Adams’ death, Williams’ charge was upgraded. He now faces a lengthy prison sentence for his actions.
