Pleasant Hill Police have returned to Cleopatra Drive to serve a felony warrant for former Pittsburg Police Detective Chunliam Saechao. The police have been surrounding Saechao’s home in Pleasant Hill since Friday, and the situation continues into Saturday morning. The area has been closed off to the public for safety reasons.

According to the police, Saechao fired multiple shots from inside his house, using a rifle and shotgun, at armored police vehicles parked in front of his residence. Thankfully, no one on the scene was injured.

Saechao’s wife was found inside the home during a welfare check. She had sustained minor injuries to her lower body. However, the police confirmed that she had attempted to enter the residence through the barricaded side garage door, and Saechao fired a single shot from a shotgun, accidentally hitting his wife. She was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Interestingly, on Friday morning, the police ended the standoff without taking Saechao into custody, stating that he was not a threat. The Pleasant Hill Police did not provide any information on whether Saechao’s status as a former police officer influenced their decision.

As of Saturday at 5:30 am, the Central County SWAT team and crisis negotiators have been attempting to communicate with Saechao throughout the night, urging him to surrender. He has continued to fire shots from inside his house, but no one has been harmed. The SWAT team remains in position around the residence. The Sherman Oaks neighborhood is still under a shelter-in-place order, and Monument Blvd is closed in both directions from Interstate 680 to Mohr Ln.

Saechao, a 40-year-old man, was deemed a danger to the public, resulting in a felony warrant for his arrest. Efforts to contact and apprehend him are ongoing.
