Woman Killed in Clash Over Land Dispute in Munshiganj
A woman named Rokeya Begum, 62, was tragically killed during a clash over a land dispute in Munshiganj’s Gazaria upazila. The incident occurred this afternoon and has left the community in shock.

Rokeya Begum, the wife of late Ebaidullah Sarker from Paikhkharpar village in Bhaberchar union, was caught in the middle of a longstanding dispute between the sons of late Ebaidullah and the sons of late Shahidullah. The dispute revolved around land-related issues and had been a source of tension between the two families for quite some time.
In an attempt to resolve the matter, an arbitration meeting was held in the village earlier today. As per the decision made during the meeting, the sons of Ebaidullah were granted ownership of the disputed land. However, things quickly escalated when an altercation broke out between the two groups while measuring the land. Tragically, Rokeya lost her life in the ensuing clash.
Hannan Sarker, who served as the president during the arbitration, stated that former union parishad member Nasir Uddin and several others were present during the meeting. He emphasized that the clash occurred after the arbitration had concluded and none of them were present at the scene.
Sohail Sarker, the victim’s son, recounted the harrowing events. He explained that his cousins, Sajeev, Manju, and Rajiv, launched an attack on him, and when his mother tried to intervene and protect him, she was brutally beaten to death.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team was dispatched to the scene. Khairul Hasan, the additional superintendent of police in Munshiganj, confirmed that the process of sending Rokeya’s body to Munshiganj General Hospital was underway.
The tragic clash over the land dispute has left the community mourning the loss of Rokeya Begum. Authorities are working to bring those responsible for her death to justice and ensure that peace is restored in the area.
