Miami-Dade police have arrested a 28-year-old woman in connection with a deadly crash that involved multiple vehicles. Dymariz Picon, a resident of the Tamiami area in west Miami-Dade, was driving a pickup truck that collided with several cars at Southwest 92nd Avenue and 21st Terrace on Friday morning. Tragically, Picon fled the scene, leaving her passenger, 34-year-old Daniel Garcia, dead behind her.
In addition to Garcia’s death, two men in a work van, Alexis Gonzalez Martinez, 30, and Jose G. Perez Estevez, 26, were critically injured by the collision. The pickup truck also damaged several parked vehicles.

Authorities had been searching for the Nissan Titan pickup truck in connection with a beer theft at a local convenience store. A Miami-Dade Schools police officer had attempted to stop the vehicle but lost sight of it before the crash occurred. It was later discovered that two men suspected of the theft had been passengers in the pickup truck.
Picon, who did not have a license at the time of the crash, has been described as a “habitual traffic offender” in her arrest report. The report does not disclose how authorities located Picon, but it states that she confessed to the crime and was subsequently arrested on Friday night.
Picon is now facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, and fleeing and eluding. She is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a bond of $33,000.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible and legal driving. Miami-Dade police are urging anyone with information related to the crash to come forward and assist with their ongoing investigation.
