Indian tourists van crash” : “Two Indian Tourists Killed in Tragic Van Accident in Chumphon Province

Two Indian tourists were killed and five other people, including four Indian nationals and a Thai driver, sustained severe injuries in a tragic accident in Chumphon province. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when a van carrying the victims collided with a truck on the Bangkok-bound Phetkasem Road.

The collision took place at kilometer marker 476+100 in tambon Na Kratai, Tha Sae district. Authorities received a report of the incident at 1 am and immediately dispatched police, medics, and rescue workers to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a 10-wheel truck with Nakhon Pathom license plates parked at a U-turn, sustaining slight damage to its left side.

The driver of the truck, identified as Kraisorn Klinsawang, a 32-year-old man from Prachuap Khiri Khan, cooperated with the police at the scene. Meanwhile, about 150 meters away, a badly-damaged Toyota van with Phuket license plates had overturned in a roadside ditch. Four Indian passengers and a 50-year-old Thai man, identified only as Nirot, the van driver, suffered serious injuries. All of them were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Tragically, two male passengers were found dead and trapped in the wreckage. The deceased victims were identified as Indian tourists aged 25 and 28. Rescue workers had to use cutting tools to extract their bodies from the van.

Initial investigations revealed that the van was transporting a total of 10 foreign passengers from Hat Yai district in Songkhla to Bangkok. As the van reached the accident scene, the 10-wheeler truck moved to the right lane to make a U-turn, resulting in the van rear-ending it. The impact caused the van driver to lose control, leading to the vehicle overturning and plunging into the roadside ditch.

Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. They plan to question the van driver, the injured passengers, and the truck driver in their efforts to piece together the sequence of events leading to this tragic accident.
