Man Arrested for Serial Killings in Hyderabad

A man accused of six murders was arrested by Tandur police in Hyderabad on Friday. The accused, identified as Kishtaiah, has been charged with killing his seventh victim, who had gone missing from Vikarabad on November 29, for a paltry sum of Rs 1,000. Shockingly, Kishtaiah had been on a killing spree since 1985, targeting women and robbing them.

Surprisingly, Kishtaiah was released from jail in September after spending two years behind bars due to lack of evidence. His method involved luring women with the promise of employment, offering them toddy, and then brutally murdering them even for small amounts of money. The police were led to Kishtaiah while investigating the disappearance of Sarvabhi on November 29.

After receiving a complaint from Sarvabhi’s husband, the police analyzed CCTV footage, which showed the victim waiting at Shanthi Mahal X Roads and engaging in conversation with Kishtaiah. The footage further revealed the duo heading towards Indira Chowk. Based on this evidence, the police apprehended Kishtaiah and during interrogation, he confessed not only to Sarvabhi’s murder but also to six other killings.

According to Kishtaiah’s statement, he and Sarvabhi took a bus to Tattepalli, where they ventured into the forest. It was in the forest that he strangled her with her saree and stole her silver anklets, Rs 1,000 in cash, and a mobile phone.

Previously, Kishtaiah had been arrested by Vikarabad police on March 21, 2021, for the murder of a daily wage laborer. At that time, his wife was charged with possessing stolen property. Kishtaiah had promised the woman employment, but instead made her consume toddy, took her to a mango garden, strangled her, and stole her valuables.

Police have revealed that Kishtaiah, a daily laborer, is a serial killer motivated solely by financial gain. He has even killed someone for as little as Rs 1,500. Since 1985, Kishtaiah has committed six murders, with three cases registered in Vikarabad, one in Yalala, one in Dharoor, and one in Tandur. Authorities suspect there may be more victims in neighboring districts.
