The death toll in a wall collapse during a pre-wedding function in Ghosi has risen to eight, with four more people succumbing to their injuries, according to a senior official. Currently, 20 individuals are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday when a wall suddenly collapsed, claiming the lives of three women and a child. Police have revealed that the wall was recently constructed and have since arrested two individuals responsible for its construction.

In response to the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each deceased person and Rs 50,000 to all those injured. He has also directed officials to ensure that the injured receive free medical facilities.
The injured victims have been admitted to the District Hospital and other medical centers, where they are currently receiving treatment. District Magistrate Arun Kumar has stated that during a pre-wedding function, an adjacent wall collapsed, resulting in the deaths of six women and two children. The investigation is ongoing, with local police looking into the matter.
The deceased have been identified as Poonam Sharma (42), Meera (36), Pooja (35), Chanda Devi (30), Sushila (52), Lalti (60), Anviya (4), and Madhav (8).
Additional Superintendent of Police Mahesh Singh Atri confirmed the arrest of Gyasuddin and Munnawar Hasan, the individuals responsible for building the collapsed wall. Local police continue to investigate the incident.
