Police responded to a call about a person shot at 17 Nason St. around 12:22 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Beatty, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an investigation by Brockton police and Massachusetts State Police, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Fernandes on charges of murder. The DA’s office stated that the victim and Fernandes were previously acquainted.
