“Fond du Lac man arrested” : 21-Year-Old Fond du Lac Man Arrested After Short Pursuit Ends in Marshy Area along Interstate 41

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – A 21-year-old man from Fond du Lac has been arrested following a brief chase that started in the city. The incident began when an officer from the Fond du Lac Police Department pulled over a vehicle on 4th Street near Main Street. After running the registration, the officer discovered that the registered owner had a warrant.

During the traffic stop, the driver fled, prompting a short pursuit that was quickly stopped. Around 10 minutes later, a deputy from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect driving recklessly and at high speeds on Martin Avenue near 11th Street. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply, leading to a second chase.

The suspect continued south on Martin Avenue, then turned onto Highway 151 before merging onto Interstate 41. As he approached Johnson Street, a Fond du Lac officer tried to use a tire deflation device, but it was unsuccessful. The pursuit continued on Interstate 41 until heavy traffic forced law enforcement officials to call it off.

Just after the chase was terminated, the vehicle began to slow down, and two suspects exited the rolling vehicle. The car eventually came to a stop in a marshy area along Interstate 41. Multiple departments set up a perimeter and initiated a K9 track with the assistance of police dogs. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was booked into Fond du Lac County Jail on charges including fleeing from an officer, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and drug possession. He was also held on a previous warrant and issued several traffic tickets related to the pursuit. The driver had been out on bail for domestic-related charges with a no-contact order involving the 19-year-old female passenger.

The passenger was released and will face charges of resisting arrest. Both suspects were examined for injuries, with the passenger sustaining minor injuries from exiting a moving vehicle. Two unrelated vehicles were damaged by the tire deflation device used during the pursuit, but no law enforcement vehicles were harmed. The chase covered approximately 14 miles and involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Wisconsin State Patrol and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department.
