Elephant tramples women in Jharkhand” : “Two Women Trampled to Death by Elephant in Jharkhand’s Simdega District: Marium Mundain and Kamlawati Devi

Two women were tragically killed by an elephant in Jharkhand’s Simdega district, according to forest officials. The incident occurred near Ekoda village in Bano area, approximately 110 km away from the state capital Ranchi. The victims, Marium Mundain (55) and Kamlawati Devi (45), were attacked by the elephant while returning home from a village market on the evening of December 8.

Speaking about the incident, forest range officer Abhay Kumar stated that the elephant separated from its herd, making it more aggressive and likely to attack humans. The forest department has been closely monitoring the movement of the elephant since the incident.

In response to the tragedy, the forest department promptly provided Rs 10,000 in immediate assistance to the families of the deceased. The government of Jharkhand also offers a compensation of Rs 4 lakh in the event of death caused by an elephant attack. The remaining amount of ex gratia will be given to the families once the necessary official procedures have been completed.

Elephant attacks have become a recurring issue in Jharkhand, with several incidents reported in recent years. The state government has been working to address this problem and mitigate the risks posed by aggressive elephants.

In related news, a 12-year-old boy lost his life after falling into a 60-feet-deep hole in Giridih district of Jharkhand. Another incident in Giridih involved a car crashing into a roadside tree, resulting in five fatalities and numerous serious injuries. These incidents highlight the importance of taking necessary precautions and implementing safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
