Nine people have been shot, three of them fatally, in a series of gun violence incidents across Chicago over the weekend, according to the police. One of the incidents occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning on the city’s Northwest Side. A 31-year-old man was approached by a vehicle with two men inside, who then began shooting at him. The victim, who had a concealed carry license, returned fire and shot one of the men in the chest, killing him. The victim himself was shot in the torso and taken to the hospital in fair condition, while the other man in the vehicle was shot in the shoulder but also in fair condition. Weapons were recovered at the scene, but no information on arrests or charges has been released yet.
In another incident on Friday evening in Archer Heights, a man driving his car was shot in the head and later pronounced dead in the hospital. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Ismael Yanez, was hit by a bullet while driving near West 45th Street and South Pulaski Road. The police have not determined the source of the shots and no one is currently in custody.

Additionally, an 18-year-old man was found shot to death inside a car on Friday evening in Englewood. The shooting occurred in the city’s Englewood neighborhood, near 60th Street and Laflin Street. Witnesses reported seeing the shooter in a gray van, but no further details are available at this time. The police are still investigating the incident and have not made any arrests.
