Woman Fatally Shot Outside Motel on Chicago’s Southwest Side
A woman was tragically shot and killed outside a motel on the Southwest Side of Chicago on Thursday night. The incident occurred in the 7700-block of South Cicero Avenue at approximately 11:45 p.m. Police arrived at the scene and discovered the victim with gunshot wounds to her neck and back.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as 39-year-old Virginia Rios. According to witnesses, Rios was involved in a verbal dispute with a male suspect before the shooting took place. The suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at Rios before fleeing the scene.
Emergency services were called, and Rios was rushed to Advocate Christ Hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The Chicago Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made at this time. Area One Detectives are currently working to gather evidence and identify the suspect.
