Man Brutally Killed by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh

A man named Komal Manjhi was brutally hacked to death with an axe by Naxalites in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, according to a police official. The incident occurred on Saturday when Manjhi was returning home after performing rituals at a goddess temple in Chhotedongar village. The victim, who was the nephew of a popular traditional healer in the village, had previously received death threats from the Naxalites.

During the recent assembly elections, Manjhi and his uncle, along with other people from interior pockets of the district, were relocated to Narayanpur headquarters for their safety. However, after the second phase of voting, they decided to return to their village and declined further protection.

Upon learning about the attack, the police immediately dispatched a team to the scene, and Manjhi’s body was transferred to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. A handwritten note, believed to be from the Maoists, was found at the spot. In the note, the Maoists accused Manjhi of acting as an agent for the Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine and making substantial profits.

The police have initiated a search operation in the area to locate the assailants responsible for the heinous crime. The motive behind the attack is suspected to be related to Manjhi’s alleged involvement in the mining business.

Naxalite activities have been a major concern in the region, with several incidents of violence and attacks reported in the past. The security forces have been engaged in continuous efforts to combat the Naxalite insurgency and maintain law and order in the affected areas.
