The net-like texture of cantaloupe skin provides a perfect breeding ground for germs, making it difficult to wash them off. Food science experts suggest that individuals at high risk, such as babies, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems, avoid eating cantaloupe until an all-clear is provided.
