An Oregon family is grieving the loss of their six-year-old son who was tragically mauled to death by two dogs while getting ready for school. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning in the Parkrose Heights Neighborhood of Portland. Police received reports of a dog attack at around 7:38am and arrived at the scene to find a woman covered in blood, who had attempted to stop the attack with her own hands.
Authorities revealed that the homeowner and dog owner did everything in her power to save the young boy’s life, even grabbing a gun in an attempt to stop the dogs. Unfortunately, her efforts were in vain, and the six-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy, identified as Loyalty Charles Scott, was dropped off at the home by his grandmother every day to be taken to school.

The horrific incident unfolded when the boy followed the woman into her garage, where two Great Dane-Mastiff mixes attacked him. The woman, who sustained minor injuries, was later identified as the owner of the dogs. It was also discovered that the boy had been previously warned to stay away from the dogs and the garage where they were kept.
The two dogs involved in the attack were euthanized, while a third dog present in the home at the time is currently being held by Multnomah County Animal Services. Loyalty’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to support his mother, with donations pouring in to help ease their financial burden during this devastating time.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Child Abuse Team and Homicide Unit are currently investigating the incident. It is still too early to determine if the owner of the dogs will face charges. The community has been left shocked and heartbroken by the tragedy, with many expressing their condolences and support for the grieving family.
