Accidental Shooting at Aligarh Police Station Prompts Magistrate Probe

A woman who was injured in an accidental shooting at Kotwali police station in Aligarh is said to be in stable condition. In light of the incident, Aligarh police have recommended a magistrate probe to the district administration. The sub-inspector allegedly responsible for the mishap is still on the run, but efforts are underway to apprehend him.

In the absence of SP City Aligarh, SP Traffic Mukesh Chand Uttam confirmed that a report has been forwarded to the district administration, urging a magistrate probe into the incident. The sub-inspector, Manoj Sharma, reportedly mishandled his pistol at the Bhujpura police outpost.

The injured woman, aged 52, is receiving treatment at JN Medical College in Aligarh. According to Uttam, her condition is stable, with all vital signs reported as normal.

Efforts are being made to locate Sharma, whose parents are cooperating with the authorities. It is expected that he will be apprehended soon to face legal action.

The incident occurred when the woman was allegedly called to the police station for a passport verification process. The police authorities have assured a thorough investigation and action against the negligent officer.

Sharma, who had been deployed at Bhujpura police station for three months, has already been suspended for his negligence. A case has been registered against him under Section 307 (attempt to murder) at Kotwali police station.

The injured woman’s family has been informed of the police actions taken, and they are reportedly satisfied with the response.

Senior police officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the accidental firing. Other officers present at the scene were unharmed.

The injured woman’s daughter expressed her sorrow, stating that her mother had been planning to go for a Haj Umra pilgrimage and had visited the police station for passport verification.

As investigations continue, the police are determined to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
