“911 shooting Cowlitz Co.” : Man Charged with Shooting and Killing Sister’s Boyfriend in Woodland, Wash.

A man in Woodland, Washington has been charged with shooting and killing his sister’s boyfriend, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office. Corey Allen Raymond, 36, called 911 around 6 p.m. on Thursday, claiming that the other man in the house was intoxicated and threatening him. Just four minutes into the call, Raymond admitted to dispatch that he had shot the man.

When officers arrived at the scene on South Pekin Road, they discovered the lifeless body of the victim, identified as 27-year-old David Austin Pfleger. Initial investigations revealed that Pfleger was dating Raymond’s sister and that all three individuals resided in the same home. However, only Raymond and Pfleger were present at the time of the shooting.

Despite no evidence of direct threats to Raymond during the 911 call, he can be heard on the recording saying, “This psycho needs to die” and “Let’s do this,” moments before admitting to shooting Pfleger. Deputies also noted that Pfleger was unarmed, as confirmed by Raymond during the call.

According to detectives, Raymond claimed that Pfleger had attempted to take the phone away from him during the call, resulting in a physical altercation where Raymond pushed him to the ground. As Pfleger began to rise, Raymond shot him three times in the torso using a Ruger .380 pistol that he had concealed in his pocket. Raymond stated that he didn’t want Pfleger to be aware of his possession of the firearm.

It was further revealed that Raymond had expressed his dislike for Pfleger and his opposition to Pfleger living in the same house. As a result, Raymond has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Cowlitz County Jail.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock as they grapple with the loss of a young life. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
