UNLV shooting details : “Las Vegas Shooting Leaves Three Dead, Suspect Identified as Anthony Polito”

A shooting on a college campus in Las Vegas has left three people dead and another seriously injured. The suspect, who has been identified as 67-year-old Anthony Polito, was killed during a shoot-out with police shortly after the attack began. The shooting occurred at the University of Nevada’s Lee Business School on Wednesday morning. The gunman, who was a professor that had unsuccessfully applied for a job at the school, opened fire on the fourth floor of the building before moving through several other floors. An “active shooter” alert was sent to students, staff, and faculty, and police officers rushed to the location. Two university police detectives encountered the shooter outside the building and a shootout ensued, resulting in the gunman’s death. Three victims were killed in the shooting, while a fourth was hospitalized and is now in stable condition. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, and investigations are ongoing. The suspect had a previous criminal history and was armed with a legally purchased handgun and multiple magazines. The campus is located near the Las Vegas Strip, where the deadliest mass shooting in US history occurred in 2017. Authorities have reassured the community that there is no further threat.
