POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE/Gray News) – A tragic accident involving multiple vehicles, including a school bus, has resulted in the death of a student, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal crash occurred on Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 59 just north of Livingston. Troopers are currently investigating the incident.

Preliminary reports suggest that at around 4:17 p.m., a school bus from Livingston Independent School District was stationary in the northbound outside lane, with its red lights flashing and stop sign extended to allow a child to disembark.
A Toyota passenger car was following the bus, while a tractor-trailer was traveling in the same direction. The truck collided with the rear of the car and swerved to the right, where the child was standing.
Tragically, the victim, a 15-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene by a justice of the peace. The drivers of the Toyota and the truck, aged 28 and 41 respectively, escaped with no injuries.
Livingston Independent School District released a statement expressing their grief over the loss of a member of their community.
