Suspect Arrested in Connection with Shooting Death of Mannin Quarles

Darrick Miles, a 43-year-old man, has been arrested in Henderson, North Carolina, and is awaiting extradition to Washington, D.C. for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting that occurred in September. The shooting took place in Southeast D.C., and Miles was apprehended on Wednesday.

The incident took place on September 1 at around 1:45 p.m. when authorities responded to a report of a shooting in the 5100 block of Astor Place in Southeast, D.C. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had been shot. Despite the efforts of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Mannin Quarles from Southeast, D.C.

After an arrest warrant was issued, members of the Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Miles in Henderson. He is facing charges of second-degree murder while armed. The extradition process will now begin, and Miles will be returned to Washington, D.C. where he will face formal charges.
