Man Killed in Tragic Road Traffic Collision in St Helens
A 59-year-old man named David Burrows, from Blackbrook, has tragically died in a road traffic collision. Described as a much-loved and caring man by his family, Burrows was on his way to work when the incident occurred.

The collision took place on Islands Brow, near its junction with Hinckley Road. Emergency services were called to the scene just before 6.30am on December 1, after receiving a report of a cyclist being injured on the road. Paramedics treated the man, who was in his 50s, at the scene before transporting him to the hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 60-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from the St Helens area have been arrested in connection with the incident. The man has been released under investigation, while the woman has been bailed pending further inquiries. The police are appealing for witnesses who were in the Haresfinch and Parr area, particularly those traveling on Woodlands Road, Green Leach Lane, Islands Brow, or Park Road between 6.17am and 6.31am, to come forward with any information.
The tragic news has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly among residents of Blackbrook, Islands Brow, and Laffak. The family of David Burrows has paid a moving tribute to him, describing him as a kind and loving person who cherished his family, friends, music, biking, and his work at Pilkington. They expressed their devastation and heartbreak at his loss and thanked Pilkington NSG for their continued support.
Sergeant Simon Duffy, who is investigating the incident, urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the police. In particular, he asked for people to review their dashcam footage if they noticed a silver-colored Skoda Fabia hatchback in the area at the time of the collision.
