Four people were reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Quneitra region of western Syria on Friday afternoon, according to Syrian reports. The Assad-regime aligned Al-Watan newspaper stated that four burnt bodies were brought to a nearby hospital, but they were too charred to be identified.

Shortly after the airstrike, rocket sirens and drone infiltration alerts sounded in northern Israel, specifically in and near Kiryat Shmona in the northern Galilee. This came a day after two rockets were fired from Syria towards the Golan Heights. The IDF responded to the rocket fire with strikes on sites in Syria, targeting locations near the town of Hadar in Quneitra.

Less than a week ago, two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in alleged Israeli airstrikes near Damascus. The IRGC identified the individuals as Mohammad Ali Ataee Shoorche and Panah Taqizadeh, who were carrying out an “advisory mission” in Syria.

According to the Syrian Capital Voice news site, the airstrikes targeted sites in Set Zaynab, Aqraba, and Hudzajra that were affiliated with Iranian and Iran-backed forces. These sites were reportedly used to store arms shipments from Iran destined for militias in Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon. One of the targeted sites also contained an advanced air defense system.

This recent airstrike is part of a series of alleged Israeli airstrikes that have been reported in Syria since Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7. The Syrian Capital Voice news site revealed that the commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, Esmail Qaani, has visited Syria three times since the attack, meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad and Vice President of Syria for Security Affairs Ali Mamlouk.
