EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A tragic incident occurred on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, in Las Cruces, resulting in the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car. The local authorities have identified the victim as Kevin Taylor, a 60-year-old man who sustained severe head injuries in the accident. Despite being airlifted to the University Medical Center of El Paso in critical condition, Taylor tragically succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
According to the Las Cruces police, the collision took place just before 6 p.m. on the 1900 block of east Lohman Ave. The driver of the vehicle involved, a 58-year-old woman operating a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling east on Lohman when she witnessed Taylor running north across the roadway from the south sidewalk. Despite her efforts to avoid hitting him, she was unable to prevent the collision.

Authorities have confirmed that neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the incident. The driver of the Impala remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigators.
