ABUJA – Simon Ekpa, the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), has announced his government’s support for the Nigerian government’s call for a non-kinetic solution to end agitation in the South East region. However, Ekpa also made fresh demands from the Federal Government.

In a statement released on Twitter, Ekpa expressed his government’s willingness to engage in peaceful negotiations to address the longstanding issues and grievances of the people in the South East. He stated that the BRGIE fully supports the Nigerian government’s call for a non-kinetic approach, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and understanding.

The Prime Minister highlighted the need for inclusivity and the involvement of all relevant stakeholders in the peace process. He urged the Nigerian government to create an enabling environment for open discussions and a genuine dialogue that can lead to lasting solutions.

While endorsing the non-kinetic approach, Ekpa also presented fresh demands on behalf of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile. He called for the unconditional release of all detained pro-Biafra activists and secessionist leaders, as well as the withdrawal of military forces from the region. Ekpa emphasized that these actions would help build trust and confidence among the people of the South East.

The BRGIE Prime Minister also stressed the importance of addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by the region. He called for increased infrastructure development, job creation, and access to quality education and healthcare. Ekpa urged the Nigerian government to prioritize these issues in order to address the root causes of agitation and promote peace and stability in the South East.

The announcement by the Biafra Republic Government in Exile comes at a time when tensions have been high in the region due to agitations for self-determination and calls for secession. The Nigerian government’s decision to pursue a non-kinetic approach is seen as a significant step towards finding a peaceful resolution to the issues at hand.

It remains to be seen how the Nigerian government will respond to the fresh demands presented by the BRGIE. The success of the non-kinetic approach will largely depend on the willingness of both parties to engage in meaningful dialogue and find common ground.
