University of Nevada Las Vegas Shooter Identified as Anthony Polito: Failed Professor Goes on Deadly Rampage

The man believed to be responsible for a deadly shooting at the University of Nevada Las Vegas has been identified as a professor who was rejected for a job at the school. Anthony Polito, 67, had applied for a professor position at UNLV but was unsuccessful, according to law enforcement sources. He carried out the shooting on the university campus, armed with a handgun. Polito was killed in a shootout with police detectives who responded to the scene. The shooting occurred on the fourth floor of Beam Hall, the university’s business school, and three people were found dead when the police arrived. Another victim is in critical but stable condition in the hospital. Four others were hospitalized due to panic attacks, and two officers suffered minor injuries during the evacuation process. The campus was immediately placed on lockdown, and students and staff were evacuated floor by floor, room by room, and building by building. Law enforcement officials are investigating the shooting and have searched Polito’s home in Henderson, Nevada. The victims were identified as faculty or staff members of the university. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation. Detectives are examining Polito’s phone for any possible clues that could shed light on his motivation.
