Police in Northern Ireland have charged two women in connection with the death of 23-year-old nursing assistant Odhran Kelly. The women, aged 43 and 36, have been charged with assisting an offender and are due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. This development comes after a murder investigation was launched on Sunday following the discovery of Mr. Kelly’s body in the Edward Street area of Lurgan. Two 31-year-old men have also been arrested in connection with the investigation and remain in police custody. Detectives investigating the murder have formally identified Mr. Kelly and have stated that they do not believe there is an organized crime link to the killing. A post-mortem examination has been conducted and Mr. Kelly’s family is left trying to come to terms with the loss. Police have appealed for anyone with information about the murder to come forward, particularly those who were in the Edward Street or Francis Street areas of Lurgan between 2am and 5am on Sunday and may have noticed any suspicious activity. DUP MP Carla Lockhart also reiterated the appeal for information, stating that it is important for justice to be secured for the taking of an innocent young man’s life. On Wednesday, a vigil was held in Lurgan in remembrance of Mr. Kelly. Hundreds of people attended, bringing balloons, candles, and flowers. Some of Mr. Kelly’s family members wore T-shirts reading ‘Justice for Odhran’.
