Tucson Teen Connected to House Party Shooting Identified as Suspect in Homicide Case: Jose Francisco Fernandez

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A teenager from Tucson, who is already facing a homicide charge, has now been linked to a shooting incident at a house party. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has identified 18-year-old Jose Francisco Fernandez as a suspect in the shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 16.

According to authorities, the shooting took place outside a residence in the 9300 block of North Monmouth Court, near Overton and Shannon roads. It was reported that a large group of people started fighting before the shooting occurred, resulting in two individuals sustaining injuries. Fortunately, both victims survived the incident.

Initially, no suspects were identified in the case. However, after a thorough forensic investigation, Fernandez was connected to the house party shooting. Consequently, he is now facing a charge of disorderly conduct with a weapon.

It is worth noting that Fernandez was already in custody at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on a murder charge prior to his involvement in the house party shooting. Alongside 19-year-old Tony Davis Jr., Fernandez allegedly shot and killed Jesus Alfonso Castro Duarte at a mobile home park in the 800 block of West Prince Road on September 19.

For the murder of Duarte, Fernandez faces a separate murder charge and is currently being held on a bond of $1 million.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into the house party shooting, and further details are expected to be released in due course.
