Tragic Death of 18-Year-Old Arman Shaikh Found Drowned in Talegaon Lake

Pune: Tragedy struck on Tuesday when an 18-year-old youth from Govandi in Mumbai drowned in the Talegaon lake. The victim, identified as Arman Shaikh, was on an outing with his family when the incident occurred.

According to Somnath Bhoir, the investigation officer from Talegaon Dabhade police, the family had come to Wadgaon Maval for a day trip. They had lunch and arrived at Talegaon Dabhade around 5pm. Arman and three of his relatives decided to go for a swim in the lake. Unfortunately, Arman misjudged the depth and drowned.

The Talegaon Dabhade police and the Wanyajeev Rakshak Maval group were alerted to the incident. They managed to locate Arman and rushed him to the hospital for treatment. However, the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Nilesh Garade of the Wanyajeev Rakshak, Maval, stated, “We reached the spot, got the victim out of the lake, and sent him to the hospital.”

The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the incident further.

Drowning incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of water safety. It is crucial for individuals to be aware of their swimming abilities and to exercise caution when entering bodies of water. Authorities often advise against swimming alone and recommend wearing life jackets or floatation devices for added safety.

In a separate development, the Bidhannagar Police in Salt Lake, Kolkata, has launched a campaign to address the issue of on-road parking. Residents are being warned and necessary actions are being taken against violators. Some residents park their vehicles on the road due to limited garage space, leading to concerns about restricted parking options. The police are currently not collecting any fees for vehicles parked outside homes, but residents are willing to pay a fee to legalize parking.

Meanwhile, heavy rain in Chennai has caused excess water release from Puzhal lake, resulting in flooding in the northern suburbs. Several residential areas have been affected, with water entering houses in Theerthagiriyampattu, Vilangadukuppam, Vadaperumbakkam, and Samiyarmadam. Efforts are underway to mitigate the situation and assist affected residents.

In Indonesia, flash floods near Lake Toba in North Sumatra have caused one death and left 11 people missing. The floods have damaged houses, a church, a school, and a hotel in the popular tourist destination. Search and rescue operations involving 350 people are ongoing, while 200 individuals have been evacuated from the affected area.
