Chippewa County, Wis. – The family of Rosaly Rodriguez, a Sauk County woman whose body was discovered in a rural area of Chippewa County three years ago, expressed their gratitude as the man accused of her murder has finally been apprehended. Jose Dominguez-Garcia, the suspect, was taken into custody on Thanksgiving Day in Missouri.

In October 2020, investigators found Rodriguez’s remains at an abandoned farm in the Town of Wheaton. The victim was pregnant at the time of her death. Dominguez-Garcia fled the scene, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest. However, he managed to evade capture until recently.

During his first court appearance via video link, Dominguez-Garcia had his bond set at $1 million. The family’s attorney, Julian Andriusis, expressed relief that the suspect is now facing justice, stating, “He feels, I guess it brings relief to the people when somebody gets arrested.”

Dominguez-Garcia is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. The victim, Rosaly Rodriguez, was a resident of Reedsburg, Wis. Her body was found in a suitcase at an abandoned farm along County Highway T.

“A vehicle connected to the defendant was discovered abandoned and appeared to have been used to transport the suitcase with the body to Chippewa County,” revealed Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell.

According to the criminal complaint, Dominguez-Garcia also purchased a cell phone in Eau Claire, near the farm where Rodriguez’s remains were found. The suspect initially told investigators that Rodriguez had informed him she no longer wanted to see him and was carrying another man’s child. However, after her body was discovered, Dominguez-Garcia became a prime suspect in her murder.

He was subsequently transported back to Chippewa County on November 30 and is currently being held in the local jail on charges related to Rosaly Rodriguez’s homicide.
