Search Warrant Executed at Residence of Anthony Polito, Suspected Shooter in Deadly UNLV Attack

LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) – Police in Las Vegas have conducted a search at the home of the man believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday at around 11:45 a.m., resulted in the deaths of three individuals, with another person sustaining serious injuries. The suspect was also killed during a shootout with campus police officers.

The suspected shooter has been identified as 67-year-old Anthony Polito, according to a source close to the investigation. Polito, who had recently applied for a job at the university but was unsuccessful, worked as a professor.

A joint operation involving SWAT teams, Las Vegas Metro Police officers, and Henderson Police officers executed a search warrant at Polito’s residence on Wednesday evening. The apartment, located on Arroyo Grande Boulevard in Henderson, was searched at approximately 7:20 p.m.

Armored SWAT vehicles were observed entering the apartment complex, securing the entrance and restricting access to the area. Numerous SWAT members were seen throughout the complex.

Despite announcing their presence over a loudspeaker, no response was received from inside the apartment. Two flash bang-type devices were detonated, generating smoke within the complex. The door was eventually breached, and SWAT personnel left the scene.

During the search, electronic devices were confiscated, as reported by The Associated Press. No further details have been provided at this time.

The shooting incident at UNLV has shocked and saddened the community, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack.
