Man Allegedly Stabs Two Relatives in Dedham, Dies After Police Encounter

A shocking incident unfolded in Dedham on Wednesday night when a man allegedly stabbed two of his relatives, leaving them with life-threatening injuries. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Samuel Pattillo of Dedham, later died after an encounter with the police.

The authorities were alerted to the ongoing double stabbing at Pattillo’s residence on Jackson Pond Road shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, additional 911 calls reported seeing Pattillo in obvious distress while walking on nearby Country Club Road.

According to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, multiple Dedham police officers attempted to interact with Pattillo, but he quickly became combative. In an effort to subdue him and take him into custody, the officers used pepper spray and a Taser. However, after Pattillo was apprehended, the police noticed signs of physical distress and immediately performed life support measures until paramedics arrived.

Despite their efforts, Pattillo was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham. The stabbing victims, who were identified as non-spousal adult relatives of the suspect, were taken to Boston hospitals with injuries considered to be life-threatening.

Authorities have clarified that no firearms were discharged during the incident. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Pattillo’s death.

State Police detectives from the District Attorney’s Office are working with troopers from the Crime Scene Services Section to process the scene for physical evidence.
