Knoxville Nurse Janice Allison’s Death Investigated as Homicide

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Police in Knoxville are investigating the death of a nurse as a murder case. The nurse, identified as Janice Allison, 61, passed away on October 25. The Knoxville Police Department has confirmed that her death has been officially classified as a homicide.

Janice Allison was reportedly working at East Tennessee Behavioral Health on Old Weisgarber Road on September 23 when she was allegedly pushed by a patient, resulting in her falling. She was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment and received medical care before passing away nearly a month later.

WVLT News reached out to East Tennessee Behavioral Health for comment, and they expressed their condolences to Jan Allison’s family. The police’s homicide unit is now working in collaboration with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Knox County District Attorney’s Office to investigate Jan Allison’s death. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the case.
