Filipino-American State Trooper Alberto Felix Among Victims in Nevada Hit-and-Run Tragedy

A Filipino-American state trooper was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident in Nevada. Alberto Felix, 54, from Iloilo City in the Philippines, was attending to a driver on the Las Vegas freeway when he and his colleague, Sgt. Michael Abatte, were struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jemarcus Williams, was later apprehended and charged with reckless driving resulting in death and driving under the influence, also resulting in death. Williams’ bail was set at $500,000.

The Filipino-American community in Las Vegas is devastated by the loss of Felix and expressed their concern over the ongoing issue of drunk driving in America. Friends and family remembered Felix as a loving father, son, and a kind-hearted man. Joe Reyes, a community member, expressed the tight-knit nature of the Filipino community and the difficulty in understanding what had happened.

Felix had joined the Nevada State Highway Patrol in 2019 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
