First responders were called to the scene on November 29th following a report of a person trapped under a motor vehicle. The incident occurred in Massachusetts, where an elderly woman tragically lost her life after her car rolled over her body.
The North Reading Police Department received the distress call just after 7:45 p.m. local time on Fieldcrest Terrace. Upon arrival, emergency crews found the 80-year-old woman pinned underneath the car in her own driveway. Shockingly, there was no one inside the vehicle at the time.

The woman, later identified as Roselyn Gray, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she was pronounced dead. Gray, a former school teacher in Cambridge and member of the North Reading Moose Lodge, was well-known and loved in her community.
Authorities from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office believe that the Buick Regal rolled backwards and struck Gray, causing the fatal accident. The incident is currently under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Sections, who are working to determine the exact cause of the car’s movement.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by rollaway cars. Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveal that between 2016 and 2020, 718 people were killed and over 9,500 were injured by unoccupied vehicles in the United States. On average, 144 deaths and 1,911 injuries occurred each year during that period.
