Roanoke Police Department Arrests Suspect in Brandon Avenue Double Homicide
ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in the Brandon Avenue double homicide that occurred in July. The arrest comes after months of investigation into the case.

As previously reported, the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in a Southwest Roanoke home on July 3. The victims’ identities have not been released.
During the course of the investigation, 52-year-old Alex Rios, a resident of Roanoke County, was identified as a suspect. Rios was taken into custody on November 22 on unrelated warrants from other jurisdictions.
Authorities presented the homicide case to the Roanoke Grand Jury, which issued indictments against Rios. He is facing multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.
RPD confirmed that Rios is currently being held in the Western Virginia Regional Jail.
