Police have conducted a search of the apartment belonging to the man who carried out a deadly shooting at the University of Las Vegas. SWAT teams and law enforcement officers blocked off building 10 of the Promontory Point Apartments in Henderson, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Henderson Police Department executed a search warrant, with officers seen going through the upstairs unit rented by 67-year-old Anthony Polito. They also examined his professional writings in the hope of finding potential clues.
Earlier in the day, a large team of police arrived at the apartment complex and announced the search warrant through a loudspeaker. They then used flash bang devices before breaking down the door to gain entry. ABC News has reported that Polito, a retired professor, was the gunman responsible for the attack. After completing their search, the police removed the crime tape and left the apartment complex, although it remains unclear if anything was taken from the premises.

The Promontory Point Apartments consist of 180 one-to-three-bedroom units, featuring grassy courtyards and two pools. The complex is located approximately 15 minutes away from the University of Las Vegas.
According to a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation, the gunman was a former professor who had applied for a position at the university but was unsuccessful. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the gunman had previously worked at East Carolina University in North Carolina. The attack at the University of Las Vegas resulted in the deaths of three individuals, with a fourth person critically injured. The gunman was killed during a shootout with the police.
