64-year-old Stuart K. Rouse Identified as Suspect in Apparent Five-Person Murder-Suicide in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) – The victims of a tragic murder-suicide incident that took place on Sunday have been identified by investigators. The suspect, believed to be 64-year-old Stuart K. Rouse, allegedly committed the heinous act.

Law enforcement authorities responded to a welfare check request at a residence in the Orchards Neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. Deputies were alerted by a distressing text message sent by one of the family members, claiming to have harmed others at the house. Concerned about the safety of potential victims and the presence of a possible firearm, deputies called for backup from a tactical team.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to establish contact with the individuals inside the house but received no response. Employing a flying drone, law enforcement officials observed multiple lifeless bodies through the windows. Subsequently, tactical teams and emergency medics entered the premises and discovered five individuals who had succumbed to gunshot wounds.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that the four victims have been identified as 62-year-old Cristina S. Rouse, 57-year-old Ronald E. Rouse, 33-year-old Kristina T. Rouse, and 19-year-old Melissa A. Rouse. These individuals are believed to be the suspect’s wife, their two adult daughters, and the suspect’s adult brother.

Authorities have determined that the incident appears to be a murder-suicide involving a firearm, with the suspect among the deceased. No further details regarding the motive or circumstances surrounding the tragedy have been disclosed at this time.

The community is left shocked and saddened by this devastating event, and the investigation is ongoing. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office continues to work diligently to gather more information and provide support to the affected families.
