27-Year-Old Tyler French Dead: Georgia Bureau of Investigation Seeks Information on 2021 Shooting

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is still seeking information about a shooting that occurred in Fort Valley in 2021, leaving one person dead and seven others injured. The incident took place during a homecoming party near Fort Valley State University.

According to Jacquez Harrison, a student at the university, he attended the off-campus party on Carver Drive but left shortly before the shooting occurred. He described the shooting as unexpected and expressed his condolences to the victim’s family.

The GBI was called in to assist with the investigation by the Fort Valley Police Department. Nelly Miles, the GBI Public and Governmental Affairs Director, stated that the shooting took place around 1:50 a.m. on a Saturday. Seven of the injured victims were transported to a local hospital and are currently in stable condition.

The deceased victim has been identified as 27-year-old Tyler French from Byron, Georgia. It was clarified by Fort Valley State University that French was not a student at the university, although some of the injured individuals were.

The shooting had significant repercussions, leading to the cancellation of FVSU’s homecoming parade. Mayor Barbara Williams expressed her sympathy for the victim’s family and the traumatized students, urging everyone to pray for them.

The GBI’s primary focus is now on identifying the person or persons responsible for the shooting. They are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
