A tragic incident occurred in HBR Layout as a cyclist lost his life in an early morning accident. The victim, Ramakrishnan, a 51-year-old tech professional residing in HBR Layout, was riding his sports cycle when the mishap took place.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Ramakrishnan collided with a stationary goods canter on Hennur-Nagawara Road. The impact resulted in severe facial injuries for the cyclist. Despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries, according to the police.

The parked goods canter, which had a flat tire, was devoid of parking lights or any visible indication of its presence on the road. The early hour coupled with low visibility likely contributed to the accident, as stated by the traffic police.
Following the incident, the K.G. Halli Traffic police have registered a case against the canter driver for negligence leading to death. Moreover, the canter has been seized for further investigation.
Sathya Sankaran, the Bicycle Mayor of the city, emphasized the concerning lack of safety for cyclists on Bengaluru roads, even during quieter early morning hours. He questioned the claims made by traffic police and other motorists regarding the visibility of bicycles, highlighting the importance of addressing the viability of larger vehicles like trucks on city roads. Sankaran expressed his concern over haphazard parking practices, particularly when visibility is compromised.
