Recently discovered bodies found on the Joint Base Lewis McChord property have been identified as Karen Koep, 62, and Davido, 68, the missing Thurston County couple. The Thurston County Coroner’s Office revealed that both victims died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.
The bodies were found less than a mile away from the couple’s property by individuals who were 4-wheeling in the area. It was later discovered that the suspected murderer had been living on the property as a tenant.

Officials suspect that the couple were kidnapped and killed. A spokesperson for the investigation stated, “Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the discovery, and sadly we believe Davido and Karen Koep have been located based on the preliminary investigation.”
Karen Koep’s younger sister, Pauline Dutton, expressed her initial shock and sadness upon hearing the news. However, she also expressed gratitude that the bodies had been found, allowing the family to finally have closure and arrange a proper burial and memorial.
Dutton emphasized the family’s commitment to supporting the two nephews left behind by Davido and Karen Koep. Financial, mental, and spiritual support are being provided to help them through this difficult time.
The community surrounding the couple’s home has also been deeply affected by their disappearance. Keith, a neighbor, shared his frustration and anger at the tragic events. Karen Koep had been his personal doctor, and he described the void that has been left in the neighborhood since their disappearance.

Loved ones have created a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family during this challenging period. Contributions can be made to the campaign to provide financial support. Despite the pain and loss, Dutton expressed her belief that they will see Davido and Karen Koep again someday.
