RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department is currently on the lookout for a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Hopewell man earlier this year.
The suspect, Rico Albert, 42, from Richmond, has been identified by the police. He is described as 5-foot-6-inches tall and weighing around 235 pounds. The department has warned the public not to approach Albert as he is considered dangerous.

A spokesperson from the department said, “The public should not approach Albert as he is considered dangerous.”
According to the police, the incident took place on Monday, August 28, just before 5:30 p.m. Officers were attending to a traffic collision in the 300 block of Richmond Highway when they were informed about the shooting.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Johnson from Hopewell, was shot in the 4300 block of Richmond Highway. Although Johnson was being taken to the hospital by the occupants of a vehicle, they spotted the officers and alerted them to the situation.
The spokesperson from the department mentioned that Johnson was rushed to a local hospital by the Richmond Ambulance Authority but sadly succumbed to his injuries.

A photograph of Rico Albert has been released by the Richmond Police Department to aid in his identification. Anyone who knows Albert or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact emergency services immediately by dialing 911.
