Fourth Person Arrested in Connection with Brutal Murder of Bernardo Pantaleon at Phoenix Park: Christopher Ibarra Identified as Additional Suspect

PHOENIX – New court documents have revealed that a fourth individual has been arrested in connection with the “brutal murder” of Bernardo Pantaleon, a 30-year-old man whose body was found at a park in Phoenix. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Christopher Ibarra, was apprehended on December 4.

Investigators have stated that Pantaleon’s body was discovered on November 26 in the vicinity of 7th Avenue and Cinnabar. Shockingly, his remains were found to have been “mutilated, postmortem.” The details surrounding the heinous crime have sent shockwaves throughout the community.

According to the court documents, Ibarra’s online profile was linked to a chat related to Pantaleon’s murder. During the investigation, Ibarra admitted to being aware of the shooter’s plan to kill the victim the day before the incident occurred. Disturbingly, he confessed to not taking any action and acknowledged the wrongfulness of his inaction. The court records also mention discussions, shared videos, and photographs related to the crime.

While Ibarra admitted to receiving photographs from the shooter, he denied sharing them with Pantaleon’s family. The family had previously received two photos through a social media platform, one of which depicted an obscene gesture, while the other displayed the victim’s mutilated body.

Ibarra’s arrest follows the apprehension of three other individuals in relation to Pantaleon’s murder. The suspects, Manuel Carrasco Calderon, Jose David Rodriguez, and Leonardo Santiago, aged 21, 20, and 21 respectively, face charges including murder, assisting a criminal street gang, and crimes against a deceased person.

Ibarra has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder and assisting a criminal street gang. A judge has set his bond at $2 million, payable only in cash. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 14.
