Four Tourists from Ker Who Died in J&K Remembered as Hardworking Youth by Their Village in Palakkad

Four tourists from Kerala who died in a tragic car accident in Jammu and Kashmir on December 5 are being remembered by their village in Palakkad as hardworking and adventurous youth. The four individuals, Sudesh, Anil, Rahul, and Vignesh, were part of a 13-member tourist group from Nedungode area in Chittur.

According to the villagers, the four young men were known for going on trips like these every year. They were described as well-behaved and close friends who had grown up together. The community is devastated by their unexpected deaths, especially since two of them had gotten married earlier this year.

The four deceased individuals had a passion for travel and had even created a fund to support their adventures. They had previously gone on trips to destinations like Kulu-Manali and this time they were visiting Delhi, Agra, and Jammu and Kashmir. They were scheduled to return on December 7.

The tragic accident occurred when the group was returning to Srinagar from Leh in two cabs. The driver of the cab carrying seven of the tourists lost control at a turn near the Zojila Pass due to slippery roads caused by snow. The vehicle fell into a ravine, resulting in the deaths of the four Kerala tourists and the cab driver from Jammu and Kashmir.

Efforts are underway to bring back the remains of the deceased and the other members of the tourist group. The state government’s Non-Resident Keralites welfare agency, Norka Roots, has sent an official from its Delhi office to coordinate the process. Three other individuals in the vehicle were injured, with one in critical condition requiring brain surgery.

The village community is grieving the loss of these four young men who were highly regarded for their helpful nature and good character. The bodies of the deceased are expected to be brought back to the village soon.
