Detectives in Lurgan have officially identified the victim of a murder as 23-year-old nursing assistant Odhran Kelly. The police launched a murder investigation on Sunday after a body was discovered in the Edward Street area. Mr. Kelly’s body was found next to a burning car in Maple Court in the early hours of Sunday. As of Wednesday afternoon, two women aged 36 and 43, as well as a 31-year-old man, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in custody.
Police have stated that they do not believe there is any connection to organized crime regarding the killing. A vigil will be held for Mr. Kelly on Wednesday evening in Edward Street, where floral tributes have been left in recent days. PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Tony Kelly expressed his condolences to Mr. Kelly’s family and stated that his thoughts were with them during this difficult time.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly also mentioned that a post-mortem examination has been conducted and Mr. Kelly’s body has been formally identified. While the investigation is still in its early stages, Detective Chief Inspector Kelly does not believe there is any organized crime involvement.
Authorities are appealing for information from the public and are particularly interested in speaking with three individuals who were captured on CCTV near the burning car. They may have valuable information that could assist the investigation. Detectives are urging anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Edward Street or Francis Street areas of Lurgan between 2am and 5am on Sunday to contact the police on 101.
The murder of Odhran Kelly has shocked the local community, and as the investigation continues, residents are hopeful that justice will be served.
