A man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for a murder that took place in a high-rise building on Van Auker Street, according to the Monroe County DA’s Office. Joshua Rodriguez, who is 22 years old, was found guilty of the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Roje Lowry. In addition to his prison sentence, Rodriguez will also serve five years of post-supervised release.
The incident occurred back in May when Lowry was shot on the ninth floor of the building. He was rushed to the URMC (University of Rochester Medical Center) but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Despite neither Rodriguez nor Lowry residing in the building at the time, Rodriguez was identified as the suspect in the murder. It was revealed that Lowry had family members living in the building.

Authorities have disclosed that Rodriguez and Lowry knew each other. Following the investigation, Rodriguez was arrested and charged with second-degree murder as well as second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
