15-Year-Old Jaxon Crabtree Killed in Tragic School Bus Accident in Lakeland, Florida

LAKELAND, Fla. – A 15-year-old boy was tragically killed on Tuesday after being struck by a bus while riding his bike in Lakeland, Florida. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. when the teenager tried to cross Pipkin Road on his way to school.

According to the Lakeland Police Department, a school bus from the Schools of McKeel Academy was traveling down Pipkin Road at the same time. The bus collided with the boy’s bicycle, resulting in severe injuries. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of first responders, the 15-year-old was pronounced dead at Lakeland Regional Health.

The victim has been identified as Jaxon Crabtree, a student at Central Florida Aerospace Academy. The police have informed his devastated parents about the tragic incident. Meanwhile, the 71-year-old female bus driver, who was not injured, remained at the scene. Authorities have stated that she was not speeding and appeared to be deeply distressed by the accident.

The school bus was carrying eight passengers, aged between 8 and 11, who attended South McKeel Academy and McKeel Academy Central. Fortunately, none of the students sustained any injuries during the collision.

Following the incident, Pipkin Road was closed for approximately four hours while investigators examined the scene. The Lakeland community has rallied together to support the family of Jaxon Crabtree during this difficult time. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for medical expenses and funeral costs. As of Wednesday, the campaign has already received over $14,000, nearing its target of $18,000.
