Virginia Resident Troy Dowsett, 28, Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck in Fox Lake Crash

FOX LAKE — A man from Virginia has been tragically killed after being hit by a pickup truck in Fox Lake on December 3. The incident occurred at around 1:53 a.m. at the intersection of Route 59 and Grand Avenue, prompting a swift response from the Fox Lake Police Department and Fox Lake Fire Protection District.

Emergency services found the pedestrian lying in the roadway, having suffered critical injuries from the collision. He was rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, but sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival in the emergency room.

Due to the seriousness of the incident, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County was called in to support the investigation. The Lake County Coroner’s Office also attended the hospital to gather information regarding the victim.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Troy Dowsett from Portsmouth, Virginia. On December 4, an autopsy was carried out at the Lake County Coroner’s Office, revealing that Dowsett had died as a result of the crash and the subsequent blunt force injuries he sustained.

The Fox Lake Police Department, in conjunction with the Major Crash Assistance Team, is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details have been released at this time.

This tragic accident serves as a reminder for both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution on the roads, especially during the early hours of the morning when visibility may be reduced.
